ENTREPRENEURS FORUM ~ AN INTERVIEW WITH AYENI VICTORIA CEO TORIA TREATS.

My name is Victoria Toyosi Ayeni. I am an indigene of Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State, Nigeria. I reside in Lagos.

 EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I had my secondary education from Rona Kings and Queens High School, Lagos after which I proceeded to Kogi State University, Anyigba for further studies.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I am into food delivery and events management.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU INTO YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS?

I have always loved good food and discovered that I have a flair for coordinating people and things, even from my teenage years. I also found out that most people love home made meals, which was not always readily available. I decided to add value by filling in this gap.

DOES IT IN ANYWAY RELATE TO YOUR EDUCATION?

Yes, it does. As a graduate of Mass Communication, the knowledge of handling people and events via strategic and effective communication comes handy for me.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST INSPIRATION?

I love what I do and it propels me to be better. I am also inspired by the need to make a lasting impact in my chosen line of business.

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES YOU ARE FACING?

One challenge faced as regards managing events is getting clients to trust you with their events. In this regard, we try to outdo their expectations which help us gain their trust and referral. For our food delivery, we are challenged by finances because it is cost effective to get food stuffs in bulk. But since we operate our services based on orders and a promise to provide quality meals made fresh, we can hardly buy some of these things and store them for long.

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST SETBACK YOU EVER EXPERIENCED

One big setback I experienced is relocating to another city where I had to start almost from scratch. It was a really difficult time for the business.

HOW DID YOU RECOVER FROM IT?

Well, I had to first come to terms with the fact that things had changed and forward movement was a must. Gradually, I started opening up to more learning which will make me remain relevant. Furthermore, I sought advise from one or two forerunners in the business because worthwhile experience can help minimize your risk of failure. I also made sure I market my services with every opportunity I get.

WHAT ARE YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR?

Toria Treats and Events was birthed at a time when being strong was the only option left. So every step taken, progress made, small or big wins are achievements that we are proud of. One key achievement is our ability to create decent work opportunities for one or two persons who work with us.
WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL IN BUSINESS?
I love Mrs Folorunsho Alakija as a successful model for business ventures.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP GOALS

My number one goal is to make impact. Asides baking I want to make impact in the lives of others in any way I can.
Another business goal is to have branches of my business doing well within and outside the shores of Africa.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY?

Yes, of course. It is satisfying to know that the little you give can go a long way in making the world a better place for all. We are all about giving back to the society because at the end of the day, it is the impact you make that you will be remembered for.

ADVICE TO OTHER ENTREPRENEURS

Personally, I will advise that every entrepreneur have a purpose they intend achieving. It is then necessary to set goals, make foolproof plans and pursue it commitedly. Worthy to note also is the need to love what you do, seek necessary knowledge and be excellent in your business.
In the face of challenges or setbacks, entrepreneurs should not see that as a license to give up. They should rather persevere, keep improving, have faith and a keen determination to succeed.
